One of my larger paintings, this place needed the physical size to give homage to its message. A place whose words speak so strongly and majestically and yet gently envelopes you into its quiet and tranquility. Its silence overtakes the senses. The beauty of this place draws me in time and again.
Medicine Lake is part of Jasper National Park, which straddles the BC/Alberta border, though the lake itself is in Alberta. The Indigenous peoples call this lake Stony Nakota as the lake disappears and drains through a cavernous sink hole every spring and summer and returns every fall and winter. Stunning no matter what time of year you see it.
