I saw this today on Facebook, posted by a dear friend with whom I share an indigenous heart. And it took me back to a time when I was painting several pieces regarding my family history, especially that part of our history that was swallowed up in the Holocaust.  When I painted these pieces (a couple of them you'll find here in Archives) I had a very distinct impression that someone was looking over my shoulder, and I knew that person was my grandfather, my Opa, whom I never met.  And I am reminded today that  no matter what I paint, my purpose is to carry on.  To carry on for myself and my children, to carry on for all the ancestors behind me who are looking over my shoulder as I sit in my studio.  How incredibly important it is to shut out the noise of everyday life and just listen.  There are messages that lead me back to the work...
